What is mill finished?

Mill finish refers to the surface finish of metals or other materials that have been produced in their raw or unpolished state, as they come from the factory or mill. It is a rough, matte finish that is characteristic of metals such as aluminum, stainless steel, and copper. Mill finishing may involve different techniques such as cold rolling, hot rolling, or extrusion, depending on the metal being processed. The finish can be further enhanced by additional processing, such as polishing, brushing, or anodizing. Mill finished metal surfaces are often used in applications where durability, corrosion resistance, and ease of maintenance are important, such as in construction, architecture, and automotive industries. However, mill finished materials may not be suitable for high-end applications where a polished or reflective finish is desired.
